On Juneteenth, I visited this place to see the unveiling of this beautiful new mural by JD Moore. The experience was awesome because he told the story of what each part of the mural represents. The news coverage was present, as well as visitors who were curious. I made some great connections with people to develop relationships.

My daughter and I attended the Detroit Ballroom dance class. This was so much fun!!! The instructor, Cam, was great. He took his time and broke down all the moves. I didn't keep most of the time, but others did. There were lots of laughs and plenty enjoyment. We also had the privilege of seeing some art work from Ni who is from Ghana. It was a great experience all the way around. We will be checking out future events and so should you.

I went to the South Dallas Cultural Center on February 29, 2024 I arrived at 1156 AM. There were cars parked in the parking lot but the door was locked. I knocked and rang the doorbell no answer and response from anyone inside. This is a sign of being unorganized, unprofessional and disrespectful to the community. Visiting African American museums, cultural sites, and other black businesses was my plan for that day. Online it says that the S. Dallas Cultural Ctr should be open, they had no written sign of any type of closure going on not even an out to lunch message. I forgot these are black peoples …. Strictly ghetto! A lot of black businesses people work in fear and don’t really want you inside visiting and or asking questions until they themselves have an agenda to push or white folks coming they would have doors wide open with balloons. Sad don’t want to hear any practice excuses that is the black experience. Poor … Poor… Poor. Not worth visiting.

Went for a show of a Bengali production.
Place seats about 35-40 and is an immersive experience with the play.

It is a City of Dallas facility ran by some awesome welcoming and friendly staff. They have great programming in relation to arts and culture for all ages.

There are some permanent art installations in addition to a rotation of in gallery artist exhibitions, there also usable spaces available like a recording studios, art workshop , dance studio and theatre upon availability.

Many local artists, visual and performing has put on great shows in this space. I recommend visiting. There website and social media is frequently updated with the latest happens.. check them out
